The stylish Restaurant at Raithwaite Sandsend, one of the best restaurants in Whitby, offers excellent food alongside a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Our talented chefs work with the best local suppliers to source the finest locally sourced ingredients from the North Yorkshire area, offering elevated menus showcasing Yorkshire classics with a contemporary twist. From traditional Sunday roasts to fresh seafood and a wide selection of vegetarian options, our menus are comprised of everything from comforting classics to light bites at one of the Yorkshire coast’s favourite Whitby restaurants.
Influenced strongly by the seasons – and what we are currently growing in our organic kitchen garden – our menus change regularly to reflect the changing seasons. Our extensive menu is carefully curated by our chefs, with starters that make excellent use of the quality seafood on the Yorkshire coast, such as dressed Staithes crab meat. Main courses might include smoked and confit pork jowl, fillet steak, and local seafood dishes such as pan-fried North Sea cod loin and Whitby fish pie, or perhaps a root vegetable katsu curry with ginger crisps and squash spaghetti as a vegetarian option. Thursdays and Sundays are the days to join us for our delicious, locally-sourced roasts complete with all the trimmings, while desserts – such as sticky toffee pudding or a Yorkshire cheese board – round things off nicely.
There’s also an extensive drinks menu to accompany the food offering, which features everything from wine by the glass and bottle, to just-mixed cocktails and artisan soft drinks.
A contemporary setting with beautiful views
The interiors at the Restaurant are light and contemporary. We make the most of our setting, offering a bright space with a welcoming atmosphere, boasting views over the estate’s beautiful grounds. There is a special area set aside for guests with dogs, while the Restaurant opens onto the stylish Bar 1822, the ideal place for a pre-dinner drink or an after-dinner cocktail.
Our Terrace, meanwhile, is the perfect spot in the warmer spring and summer months, offering a sunny spot for lunch made with local ingredients, sumptuous afternoon tea, or a post-walk pint.
Guests at the hotel can start their day with a full English breakfast, and the Restaurant is open to the public for lunch and dinner.

Take your pick from our variety of private dining venues at Raithwaite Sandsend and we’ll transform it into your perfect party pad. Our chefs are on hand to create bespoke party menus for you and your guests.
Whether it’s a cosy get together with family, or a full-on party with friends or colleagues, we can rearrange our venues to suit you. Our smaller suites are ideal for parties of up to 20 guests, and for slightly bigger groups we can whiz things around to seat up to 30. Large parties can opt for the Raithwaite Suite, suitable for up to 130 guests.

We specialise in delicious cocktails as well as offering a lunch menu comprised of comforting Raithwaite favourites, quality fish and chips, and soup of the day, whilst always making the most of our locally-sourced produce.
